Your supplier for break tanks

In the 21st century, we can no longer afford for substances such as rainwater and well water to pollute the mains network. Drinking water must be optimally protected and 100% pure. This is one of the reasons a break tank exists.

Break tanks are an essential part of any water supply system and provide a temporary reserve water supply in case the mains water pressure drops. Bosta is a leading supplier of break tanks and offers a wide range of tanks with different capacities and pump specifications.

Our break tanks are:

  • Easy to install
  • Prevent algae growth
  • Easy to clean
  • Low noise levels
  • Durable

AB safety device

As an installer, you are probably familiar with a BA, a CA, an EA valve, but do you know what an AB safety device is? A free outlet "AB" is a vertical and permanent break between the lowest point of the feed orifice and the critical level. The overflow must be rectangular and able to discharge incoming water at positive pressure by means of the mechanical float under fault conditions. In other words, the system ensures that water remains in the tank continuously, so that your piping system always has water available.

Benefits of a Break Tank in Water Supply Systems

A break tank is not only necessary to comply with legal obligations but also offers several benefits to a water supply system. One of the most significant advantages is that it can serve as a pressure booster pump, particularly in areas where low pressure is an issue, such as apartment buildings or homes located on hills. This feature ensures that water pressure remains consistent throughout the system, providing a reliable supply of water to every tap point.

The break tanks are designed to be easy to install, with connections along both sides, and have an extra-large access hatch that facilitates simple cleaning and maintenance. The tanks are also not translucent, which prevents the growth of algae and ensures water quality.

Preventing Contamination in Water Supply Systems

A break tank is a crucial component in preventing contamination of the water supply system. It is connected to one end of the water tank, and the other end has an air gap opening that prevents water from rising above the intended level. This mechanism ensures that any excess water flows out of the tank, preventing it from coming into contact with the mains water supply.

The design of the break tank, coupled with the air gap opening, ensures that bacteria and other contaminants are prevented from entering the water supply system, providing a safe and reliable water supply. At the bottom of the tank, a pump draws water and sends it to the tap points, ensuring consistent water pressure throughout the system. The break tank is, therefore, a vital component in any water supply system, providing safe, reliable, and consistent water pressure to all the tap points in a building or property.
