PE pipe for electrofusion

PE pipes used for electrofusion should be made of high-quality PE material that is designed for fusion welding. The most common PE material used in electrofusion is PE100 (HDPE), which is widely used in water supply, and other applications. We offer our PE pipes range in size from 16mm to 1200mm or larger, and standard in SDR11 and SDR17 pressure classes. It is important to ensure that the SDR of the pipe and the electrofusion fittings are compatible.

PE welding machines and tools

Electrofusion welding requires specific machines and tools to properly fuse polyethylene (PE) pipes and fittings. We can offer all the key equipment and tools commonly used in electrofusion welding, including electrofusion welding machines, from simple versions to completely automatic welding units for diameters up to 630mm. We also stock cleaning tools, such as scrapers or cleaning brushes, used to remove any dirt, grease, or debris from the fusion surfaces of the PE pipes and fittings before welding.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is electrofusion welding and how does it work?

Electrofusion welding is a method of joining polyethylene (PE) pipes and fittings using specialised electrofusion equipment that heats the surfaces of the pipes and fittings to be joined, causing them to melt and fuse together.

What types of pipes and fittings can be used with electrofusion welding?

Electrofusion welding can be used with high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes and fittings, which are commonly used in water and gas distribution, industrial pipelines, agricultural irrigation, and other applications.

What are the advantages of electrofusion welding over other joining methods?

The advantages of electrofusion welding include strong and durable joints, leak-free connections, resistance to corrosion and chemicals, ability to join pipes and fittings of various sizes and diameters, and suitability for both above-ground and underground applications.

What are the applications of electrofusion welding in various industries?

Electrofusion welding is used in various industries, such as water and wastewater management, aquaculture, biogas plants, chemical and petrochemical industries, mining and quarrying operations, geothermal systems, industrial HVAC systems, and more.

What are the key components of an electrofusion welding system?

The key components of an electrofusion welding system typically include an electrofusion welding machine, electrofusion fittings, pipe preparation tools, electrofusion control unit, and associated accessories such as clamps, couplers, and scrapers.

What are the factors that affect the quality and integrity of electrofusion welds?

Factors that can affect the quality and integrity of electrofusion welds include proper surface preparation, appropriate welding parameters (e.g. time, temperature, pressure), correct alignment of pipes and fittings, and adequate cooling time.
